RECHARGE FOR VETS | Volusia County | Veterans Recharged, Communities Strengthened
Recharging Veterans
This quarter, our mission to get veterans outdoors and reconnected with nature came to life through another incredible recharge experience. Army veteran Brittany Alexander joined Mikol and the Recharge for Vets team for a full weekend of activities including scuba discovery, offshore fishing, good food, and laughter. Brittany’s day on—and under—the water was more than an outing; it was a moment of renewal. As she shared, “This wasn’t just a trip— it was a chance to recharge, connect, and push limits in the next possible way.”
Brittany’s story is one of service and compassion. After graduating high school in 2009, she wasted no time— three days later, she shipped off to basic training and went on to proudly serve 5½ years in the U.S. Army as an Information Technology Specialist. While still in uniform, Brittany earned her CNA license because caring for others has always been her calling. Since then, she’s been making a difference every day in the lives of her patients and also while teaching middle school.

A special thank-you goes out to Fire Line Charters for their generous donation of a four-hour fishing trip. Their support ensures that more veterans will have the chance to experience the calm and connection that comes with a day on the water. We’re deeply grateful for partners like Fire Line Charters who understand the power of giving back and help us continue delivering unforgettable experiences.
Building Partnerships
Our partnerships continue to grow with local adventure providers, but especially with the Daytona Beach Army Recruiting Command Post, helping identify soldiers and recruiters who could benefit from a recharge day.
Looking Ahead
We’re closing out the year strong with our upcoming 8-hour bottom fishing BONUS Recharge on October 24, 2025, alongside First Responder and Charter Captain Mike Kyp. We’ll launch from Boondocks Pier in Wilbur‑By‑The‑Sea at 0600 for a full day of fishing, teamwork, and recovery. A Scuba Discovery BONUS Recharge is in the works for a new Nominee and fund-raising activities are planned before year-end. Monthly recharges will continue, offering veterans opportunities to participate in fishing, kayaking, and scuba adventures.
